We are pleased to announce the successful publication of the June 2026 issue of the Journal of Sinographic Philologies and Legacies (JOSPL), Volume 2, Issue 2: https://jospl.org/newsletter/TOCAlert.php.

The present issue is a special issue devoted to the theme of “Sinographic and Literary Sinitic Education in East Asia.” Sinographs and Literary Sinitic have played a fundamental role in the linguistic, literary, educational, and intellectual traditions of East Asia, while their status and functions have been significantly transformed by modern language policies, educational systems, script reforms, and changing cultural contexts. This special issue brings together studies that examine these transformations from a comparative and interdisciplinary perspective.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the authors, reviewers, and editors who contributed to the preparation of this issue. We would also like to extend our special thanks to Wonseok Yang, who served as the guest editor of this special issue and contributed the introductory essay, for his valuable work in bringing together the diverse contributions and developing the comparative framework of the issue.

This issue also reflects JOSPL’s continuing effort to develop focused thematic issues through our guest editor system. By bringing together contributions around a shared theme, we hope to encourage deeper dialogue across regional and disciplinary boundaries and to highlight emerging directions in the study of the Sinographic world.

JOSPL continues to welcome submissions on a rolling basis from scholars worldwide working on the intellectual, literary, religious, linguistic, and cultural traditions of the Sinographic world. We especially encourage comparative and cross-disciplinary scholarship that rethinks established boundaries and opens new avenues of inquiry.
